Just another beach day…

In case we forgot to mention it, we live in a resort area: a beautiful island in the middle of the clear waters of the Mediterranean sea with lots of sunshine and soft sandy beaches. Just a short (10 minute, 80 euro cent) bus ride away is a small resort area called Ayia Apostoli. Golden beaches flanked by small peninsulas of rusty rock create an illusion of seclusion in the swarming reality of northern European sunseekers…and we manage to have our fun.
Since swimming and sunbathing have never been able to maintain my attention for too long, I have become a master sand-sculptor to pass the hours beach bound. Today I attempted the apparently impossible: a sand sculpted woman, sitting up. I couldn’t manage to stop the composite head from crumbing back into its natural state of particles, so at Dave’s suggestion, I left it next to her, cradled in her arm.
One small Greek boy walked by and thought he could one up me…and he tried valiantly to build her head in its rightful place. After a try or two, and at the obvious encouragement of his onlooking father, he decided there was one area that needed more attention than the head…
